I am a landscape painter. I was looking for a hobby to take my mind off business and found the perfect answer. I discovered that when I paint, it is impossible to think about anything else. Now that I have retired, I devote most of my free time to my painting avocation. I am not attempting to transcend to a higher plane... I don't have any insight as to the meaning of.... anything. I just enjoy the process of interpreting what my eyes and my mind see. I usually make hasty sketches and make some color notations of the subject matter and refer to the many photographs I take when I begin the painting in my studio. Sometimes it comes easily, but that is a rarity. Most often it is a long process of trial and error... one correction after another. Quite often I will work on a painting months, even years, after it has been "finished." I am striving to loosen up my painting by leaning more towards an impressionistic approach to my representative style.
AWARDS
I gathered up my nerve and entered my first show/competiton in 2003 and to my surpise, my painting received an Honorable Mention Award. Since then, I have been lucky enough to have recieved numerous awards in local art shows/competitions sponsored by central New York art associations: Fulton Art Association, Art Association of Oswego, Central New York Art Guild, Salmon River Art Association, Syracuse Council For The Arts
